Adapted Swim

For children with physical or developmental disabilities including Autism.

Did you know that drowning is a leading cause of death for children with Autism and other disabilities? Why is this statistic so high? Children are naturally drawn to the water, especially those with Autism, Down Syndrome, and other sensory process disorders, but many children and parents underestimate the risk of an accident occurring. Adaptive swim lessons aims to provide students with special needs and their parents/caregiver with the knowledge and skills to safely enjoy the water.

The program will emphasize water safety and foundational swimming concepts.

Class meets for 50 minutes and each participant is required to have a parent/caregiver in the water with them.

Success in the program will depend on consistency of participation, swimming outside of class time, and whether the student is developmentally ready to swim.

Class open to students ages 4+
